Thank you!

Thank you for taking the MECC e-learning course.  We hope you enjoyed it and will be able to put what you’ve learnt into practice to ensure you’re Making Every Contact Count.

As a reminder, you’ll now understand:

  • What we mean by MECC

  • How to use the 4 A's (Ask, Assess, Advise, Assist)

  • Key messages from the seven areas: Drinking alcohol sensibly, stopping smoking, healthy eating, physical activity, mental health and wellbeing, oral health and sexual health

  • How to recognise opportunities to support people to make lifestyle behavioural changes

  • Where to obtain additional information about the areas covered in MECC

Don't forget...

Everyday habits and behaviours, such as eating too much unhealthy food, drinking more alcohol than recommended, continuing to smoke and not being active enough, are responsible for around 40% of all deaths in England and cost the NHS more than £11 billion a year!

NHS Better Health has a fantastic range of advice and information, along with a number of great free apps, all of which can help adults across Herefordshire avoid future diseases caused by our modern day lives.  There's also a 'how are you' quiz, which will give you a personal health score and direct you to services you might need.

Talk Community Directory is Herefordshire's free and easy to use online resource for wellbeing information and signposting to local and national advice and support.  It also contains details of over 700 local services and groups and has an extensive range of activities and events within its what's on calendar to help people stay independent, healthy and happy.

MECC e-learning certificate

In order to receive your MECC e-learning certificate, you'll need to complete a very short questionnaire.  Once completed, your certificate will be e-mailed to you (please ensure you provide the correct e-mail address).

Now you’ve completed your MECC e-learning, why not also take a look at our MECC+ reasonable adjustments module?

This module has been created by our colleagues at Healthwatch Herefordshire and will help you understand the different steps you can take to make your business or premises more accessible and user friendly for people with disabilities or health conditions.

It is designed as a series of easy to use infographics, which you can either read through altogether or download for free and keep, so they can be referred to, whenever necessary.
