The residents of Yarpole have prided themselves for many years on their community spirit. This is never more so than during the last year. With many shielding or having to self-isolate, deliveries of necessary goods from the Community Shop sited in the church has been a godsend. Volunteers from the Yarpole Good Neighbour Scheme, as well as friends and neighbours, stepped up to the plate to ensure the welfare of others in the parish.
At the height of the pandemic, over 30 orders a day were being delivered. Other small acts of kindness such as walking a neighbour’s dog, making phone contact with individuals that were self-isolating, putting out their wheelie bins, delivering takeout meals from the Community owner pub and Gallery café, collecting and delivering medicines through the shop and urgent lifts to and from medical appointments, exemplifies what the village is all about.
