Onside is looking for volunteers to become Relevant Person’s Representatives (RPR). An RPR is an independent person who looks out for an older or disabled person living in a care home, ensuring they are getting the right care and support and are being treated fairly.
The people you’ll be visiting may have communication difficulties, due to dementia, learning disabilities or following a stroke, so whilst you don’t need any formal qualifications for the role, you will need to be:
- A good listener
- Calm and patient
- Interested in people
- Open and non-judgemental
- Committed to rights and equality
- Respectful towards the views of others
If you’re interested in volunteering as an RPR, contact Claire on 01905 27525 or volunteering@onside-advocacy.org.uk or visit the Onside website.
We’d love to hear what you’re doing, use #GiveAnHour on social media, or just drop us a line.
